Minneriya National Park

On your way to the ancient capital of Polonnaruwa you will get the opportunity to enjoy the rich wild life at Minneriya National Park situated in the dry zone of Sri Lanka 180 KM away from the Colombo capital. The Minneriya National park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population dwelling in forests of surrounding districts.

Minneriya National Park contributes to sustain a large herd of elephants more than 700 migrate from surrounding jungles and close by Wasgamuwa National Park and benefited from food and shelter of the park's forest specially in dry season.

The park is also important habitat for the several species of endemic monkeys, large herbivorous mammals, Rare and endangered species such as Sri Lankan Leopard and Sri Lankan Sloth Bear also inhabit in Minneriya National Park.
